OUR CLINICAL RESULTS FOR EPILEPSY

Monitoring, Detection, and Abortion of Epileptic Seizures

Epilepsy is a debilitating neurological disorder affecting approximately 1% of the population worldwide, 30-40% of which experience uncontrolled seizures. By incorporating smart detection algorithms into a wireless sensor IC (Integrated Circuit), we have demonstrated very early detection and abortion of epilepsy seizure. This detection method has proven accurate by over 90% success rate on both animal and human subjects. Upon detection of an upcoming seizure, the IC stops the seizure by disrupting the development of synchronization between neurons. This method has proven far more effective in detecting and aborting seizure episodes than the commercially-available solutions. This electronic device will be an effective non-pharmaceutical treatment option for patients with intractable epilepsy.
